Not at all. Many of our customers are homeowners refinishing their hardwood floors for the first time. Our team will explain how each machine works, recommend the right sandpaper sequence, and answer any questions before you begin.

Most hardwood floor refinishing projects require three machines, each designed for a different stage of the sanding process:

• EZ-8 Drum Sander: Removes old finishes and sands the main open areas of the floor.
• Super 7-R Edger: Sands along walls, baseboards, staircases, and other areas the drum sander cannot reach.
• RS-16 Floor Buffer: Blends drum-sander and edger marks, screens the floor, prepares the surface for stain or finish, and performs light sanding between coats of varnish.

Using all three machines helps create a smoother, more consistent surface across the entire floor. Our team can help you choose the right equipment, abrasives, and sanding sequence for your project.

Sandpaper is sold separately because the grit sequence and quantity required depend on the condition and size of your floor.

• We will provide more abrasives than you are likely to need so you do not run out in the middle of the job. Any unused sandpaper can be returned when you bring back the rental equipment.
• We stock a full range of grits designed for our rental machines, and our team will help you choose the right abrasives and sanding sequence for your project.

In most cases, yes. The EZ-8 Drum Sander separates easily into two sections for transportation. The RS-16 Floor Buffer will also fit in many vehicles, provided the rear seats fold down and there is enough cargo space.
